Foot-and-Mouth Disease: 9 New Cases Found, Illegal Establishment Reported

Vaccinations of animals in the infected zone for foot-and-mouth disease are in their final phase, according to the Veterinary Services. Following a new case recorded on Thursday, vaccinations are being extended to a new zone.
Nine new cases were confirmed in sheep and goat farms, specifically eight in the Livadia area and one in Dromolaxia. Positive cattle were also found in an illegal establishment, leading to complaint procedures against the owner.
The process for the vaccine for pigs is still in the purchasing stage. The Veterinary Services reiterate the existing measures and prohibitions and call on farmers to comply.
Authorities clarify that the killing of animals is applied within the framework of European legislation on zoonoses.
