Ayia Napa: Drunk Man Assaults Police and Attempts to Bribe Them

The Famagusta CID is investigating a case of attempted bribery of a public official in Ayia Napa.

According to police reports, yesterday at 7:15 p.m., members of YKAN stopped a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man in Ayia Napa for inspection. The driver, under the influence of alcohol, allegedly attacked and pushed the officers, attempting to flee.

The 35-year-old was arrested and, furthermore, offered to bribe the police officers to let him go. At the police station, the alcohol measurement showed 41μg%, exceeding the allowed limit of 22μg%. After being charged in writing, he was released.
