Inappropriate Response from 112 Regarding Paphos Fire – Investigation into Police Officer

The police have issued a statement regarding a social media post concerning an inappropriate response from a member of the Emergency Service 112 to a fire call.

According to the announcement, following a post on 16/08/2025, reporting an inappropriate response from a member of the Emergency Service 112 to a citizen's call on 15/08/2025 about a fire in the Paphos district, the Deputy Chief of Police, Mr. Panikos Stavrou, instructed an administrative investigation to be conducted.

The citizen stated that he called 112 upon seeing a fire in the Paphos District, saying that the situation was serious and that the fire was starting near a forest. The response he received was: «Εν τζαι εν εγώ που θα την σβήσω» (It's not like I'm the one who's going to put it out).

The citizen claimed that the operator did not ask for details about the incident. The police are investigating the incident.
