The trial before the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court concerning the admissibility of the testimony of German real estate agent, Eva Isabella Künzel, has been adjourned. The adjournment was due to the illness of the representative of the prosecuting authority.

Künzel faces charges related to the usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories, the promotion of illegal transactions, and the laundering of proceeds from illegal activities during the period 2023–2024. The proceedings will continue on Wednesday, November 12.

Last Friday, the hearing focused on the testimony of investigating officer Dimitra Stavrou regarding the circumstances surrounding the taking of the defendant's statement on July 11, 2024.

On October 8, the Court ruled as 'inadmissible' the evidence resulting from the search of Künzel's luggage upon her arrival in Cyprus, characterizing the search as illegal.

The prosecuting authority is attempting to prove that the defendant's statement was voluntary and not the product of the illegal search. The presumption of innocence applies to all defendants.
