Search for Eight Missing Persons in Occupied Galatia, Famagusta Continues

The search continues for the location of eight missing persons in the Galatia area, in occupied Famagusta. Before 1974, the village of Galatia was exclusively T/C and is located near Leonarisso and Eptakomi.
According to reports, after the second Turkish invasion in 1974, Greek Cypriot civilians from surrounding villages were transferred to Galatia and hastily buried near the lake west of the village. The DEA is aware of eight missing persons from the areas of Yalousa, Komi, and Eptakomi.
A DEA team is searching for one person from Yalousa, with a disappearance date of October 3, 1974. Information regarding the possible burial location came from T/Cs in the area. At the same time, a second team is working in Eptakomi, hoping to locate the bones of a missing person in a well.
Archaeologist Charalambos Siafkou stated that from mass graves in 2006 and 2015, the bones of 18 people were identified. He appealed for information, stressing that even the smallest piece of information is important.
Ali Gulluoglu, also from the DEA, explained that despite the excavation at a specific point near the lake, there was no result and it was decided to excavate at a second point. He appealed to Cypriots to provide more information to locate the missing persons.
