Supreme Court Rejects Tychikos' Appeal Against Holy Synod Decisions

The Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos, for an extension of the deadline to file an application for permission to issue prerogative writs against the decisions of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The application concerned the annulment of the decisions by which Tychikos was declared deposed. The court ruled that the delay in submitting the application was not justified.
According to the decision, Tychikos had full knowledge of the decisions from the date of their issuance. The court also rejected his claims of health problems as an excuse for the delay.
The Supreme Court stressed the importance of time in such proceedings and rejected the application of the former Metropolitan of Paphos, calling the delay unjustified.
