Prison Inmates React to Mobile Phone Disable System in Cyprus

Reactions were triggered in Cyprus prisons regarding the installation of a mobile phone disabling system. According to reports, an inmate damaged part of the equipment.
Specifically, this morning, during a visit by a crew to install the system, an inmate grabbed a broomstick and broke about ten plastic boxes that were part of the equipment. The incident occurred before the anti-vandalism equipment was installed.
The Prison Administration is conducting investigations to assign disciplinary and criminal responsibilities. The installation of the system is in an advanced stage, with the aim of completing it by the beginning of 2026.
In other news, the Administrative Court upheld the extension of the availability of Ms. Anna Aristotelous. Also, the departure of Kyriaki Lambrianidou from the position of Police Press Spokesperson was announced, with Vyronas Vyronos taking over her duties.
