Former Commissioner for Volunteerism Acquitted of 5 Charges

Former Commissioner for Volunteerism, Yiannis Yannakis, has been acquitted of five charges in his trial that continued today at the Nicosia District Court.
The charges concerned the preparation of a forged document and the circulation of a forged letter of recommendation.
Mr. Yannakis has already admitted to three charges, which concern the circulation of forged official documents knowingly and fraudulently. These charges carry a prison sentence of up to ten years.
The case is being tried by the District Court, so the sentence that can be imposed is up to five years.
