The Nicosia Criminal Court rejected the request for release submitted by the defense of Israeli businessman Simon Aykut, ruling that the defense had not proven that the diagnostic and treatment methods offered in Cyprus are inferior to those offered abroad.

The lawyer of the 75-year-old businessman, who faces charges of property usurpation in the Turkish-occupied areas of Cyprus, requested his client's release, citing the urgent need for specialized medical examinations abroad due to indications of a serious health problem.

In the decision announced today by the President of the Nicosia Criminal Court, Christiana Parpota, it is mentioned, among other things, that there are three diagnostic methods available in Cyprus, the reliability of which was not questioned. The decision also states that the arguments presented by the defense did not substantiate that these three methods are inferior to the robotic diagnostic method, which is not available in Cyprus.
