The Larnaca District Self-Government Organization (EOA) has filed a criminal case against a metal recycling factory in Aradippou, following an explosion that occurred last Friday, August 29, injuring three people.

According to the President of EOA Larnaca, Angelos Chatzicharalambous, the factory has been operating without a license since 2014. The Mayor of Aradippou, Christodoulos Partou, stated that two companies with similar activities operate in the area and that a similar incident had occurred last year at another factory.

The owners had applied for a license in 2014, but the Department of Environment initiated a suspension of operations in 2019, which resulted in a fine of 600 euros in 2023. The Municipality of Aradippou will discuss the issue in a meeting.
