The Chief of Police, Themistocles Arnaoutis, testified before Parliament that the Filippidis couple, who lost their lives in the Limassol mountain fire, had been informed of the road's danger but ignored the instructions.

According to Mr. Arnaoutis, Dimitris and Maro Filippidis departed from Sylikou at 19:55 and were advised to take the route via Trimiklini towards Agios Mamas, but they did not comply. They entered the road towards Alassa, while the Alassa-Trimiklini route was closed at 20:05.

Mr. Arnaoutis stated that there is testimony that they were told which way to go and that the testimony will be submitted to the coroner's inquest. When questioned, the Chief confirmed that this is the position of the Police.

Mr. Loukaidis requested clarification as to whether the deceased bear responsibility for their death, with the Chief responding that a coroner's inquest will be conducted.
