Terrorism Response Exercise in Nicosia, Cyprus

A terrorism response exercise will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM at the Conference Center in Nicosia.

The Cyprus Police, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency, in anticipation of the Republic of Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026, are planning an exercise concerning a terrorist attack at the Conference Center facilities.

Forces from various services and departments of the Cyprus Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Service, as well as the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency will participate in the exercise.

The aim of the exercise is to assess the readiness, response, and coordination of the responsible services regarding the security of the Conference Center, and to familiarize the involved services with the premises.

On the day of the exercise, mobilization of police forces is expected in the area, and blank rounds will be fired inside the facilities. The public is informed that there is no cause for concern.
