Cyprus Police Extend Security Measures to Maritime Areas

The Cyprus Police are on heightened alert and have extended preventative security measures to maritime areas, according to statements made to the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE) by Police Spokesperson Vyron Vyronos.
The measures aim to protect critical infrastructure of the Republic and other high-risk areas. Mr. Vyronos emphasized the close cooperation with all state services, the British Bases authorities, and other collaborating services.
"We are on constant alert," he noted, adding that the priority is the protection of citizens and ensuring public safety.
Mr. Vyronos also reminded the public of the emergency contact numbers for the Police, stressing that 112 and 199 should be used in life-threatening situations, while the public can call 1460 if another line is unresponsive.
Regarding the Akrotiri area, Mr. Vyronos stated that there are police patrols in cooperation with other services, such as Civil Defense.
