Police Investigation into Allegations at Ayia Napa Nightclubs

Police have launched an investigation following a Channel 4 documentary alleging sexual harassment and illegal employment at Ayia Napa nightclubs. The documentary includes testimonies of sexual favors being requested for jobs, low wages, and threats.

According to police spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos, the documentary will be thoroughly evaluated in cooperation with the human trafficking office. The Channel 4 journalist used hidden cameras for the report.

The mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettos, acknowledged the existence of such incidents but characterized them as isolated and stressed that they would be investigated.

The documentary also refers to similar phenomena in other tourist areas of Europe.
