Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the audio-visual material contained in a Channel 4 documentary, which refers to potential deception and exploitation of young British women working in Ayia Napa. The investigation was launched ex officio.

Eleni Michael, head of the Police's Human Trafficking Office, stated that it is not yet clear whether any criminal offenses arise. The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Electronic Crime Division and other specialized departments.

Ms. Michael emphasized the difficulties in collecting testimonies in cases of trafficking and exploitation of persons, both nationally and internationally. Her service is cooperating with Europol for updates on the evolution of these crimes and the measures to combat them.

The possibility of deception in work and holiday packages advertised to young people is being examined. Police are calling on citizens who have information to contact the authorities.
