Cyprus Police Demand Millions in Compensation for Day Offs

The Police Branch of the ISOTITA Union is demanding the correction of the calculation method for day offs for members working in a shift system, in a letter to the Chief of Police. The letter was also sent to the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice, and the Minister of Finance.
According to the Union, the amendment of the Police (General) Regulations (K.D.P. 255/1998) reduced the weekly working hours to 40, but did not explicitly define how day offs should be calculated. The Union claims that a 'one hour to one hour' calculation is applied, regardless of the day and working conditions, creating unequal treatment compared to the Public Service.
The police officers are seeking millions of euros in compensation for lost day offs, as well as a meeting within 15 days to find a solution. ISOTITA reserves all its legal rights in case the requests are not met.
