Increased Incidents for Fire Service in 2025 – 13 Aircraft Available

The Fire Service responded to 13,401 incidents in 2025, a 4.94% increase compared to 2024. Chief Fire Officer, Nikos Logginos, presented the statistics in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Konstantinos Fytiris.

Of the incidents, 7,154 were fires, 5,259 were special services, and 988 were false calls. Nicosia recorded the most incidents, followed by Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta.

Ahead of the summer period, Cyprus will have 13 aircraft at its disposal. Mr. Logginos mentioned that 1,180 calls concerned rural fires after 7 p.m., highlighting the need for 24-hour operation of fire stations in rural areas.

Mr. Fytiris emphasized that strengthening civil protection services is a priority. The upcoming delivery of the new Ayia Napa Fire Station and the creation of new stations in Pachna, Eptagonia, and Larnaca were also announced.

According to Mr. Logginos, 53% of inspections at recreational centers and 73.75% of inspections at industrial establishments were unsatisfactory regarding fire safety measures.
