Paphos Municipality: Corruption Allegations and Employee Dismissal

Significant allegations concerning the leadership of the Paphos Municipality have been brought to light by lawyer Simos Angelides, representing a senior official of the Municipality. The official had been dismissed twice, with the court overturning both decisions.

According to Mr. Angelides, the dismissal was not based on formal reasons, but on a deeper pathology in the relations within the Municipality. The official had reported workplace bullying and psychological violence.

In addition, there were allegations of physical violence by the Mayor, as well as possible criminal offenses and corruption issues related to the management of the Municipality, including the case of Turkish Cypriot properties, as early as 2019-2020.

Mr. Angelides argued that the municipal council, despite the allegations, did not consider them when making the decision to dismiss the official.
