Aradippou Explosion: Military Ordnance Suspected, Three Seriously Injured

The condition of three men injured in an explosion at a metal recycling plant in Aradippou is serious but out of danger, according to doctors at Larnaca General Hospital. The injured men are aged 52, 42, and 39.

According to the Larnaca Police Directorate, the 52-year-old sustained injuries to his hands and legs and is expected to undergo surgery. The 42-year-old suffered a ruptured spleen, which was surgically removed. The 39-year-old, who has been residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus since 2023, also sustained injuries to his hands and legs and is undergoing surgery.

The explosion occurred around 09:30 in the morning, during the unloading of metals by the 52-year-old. Initial investigations suggest the explosion was caused by an unexploded military ordnance.

Larnaca Police Director Ioannis Sotiriadis, members of the Aradippou Police Station and TAE Larnaca, police and National Guard pyrotechnics experts, as well as members of the Labour Inspection Service and the Fire Service, arrived at the scene. The Aradippou Police Station is investigating the case.
