Missing 13-Year-Old: Social Welfare Services Denies Bullying Reports

The Director of Social Welfare Services (ΥΚΕ), Maria Kyratzi, has denied reports of bullying in the case of the disappearance of a 13-year-old from a minor's shelter in Nicosia. The statement was made on the sidelines of a meeting in Pachna, with the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, and community leaders from fire-stricken areas.

Ms. Kyratzi emphasized that the procedures for locating the child began immediately, with the collection and transmission of information to the Police. She reiterated that the confinement of children is prohibited and that the goal is to develop a relationship with each child.

Referring to unaccompanied minors, the Director of Social Welfare Services noted the issue of their trafficking and the need to ensure safety and prevent abuse. She pointed out that the mobilization to locate the 13-year-old is ongoing.
