Trial Begins for the Murder of Stavros Demosthenous

The trial begins today for the murder of businessman Stavros Demosthenous, which took place on October 17, 2025. Six defendants are brought before the Criminal Court.
The defendants, two 30-year-olds, a 31-year-old, a 51-year-old, and two 28-year-olds, face charges including premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, arson of a vehicle, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, and vehicle theft.
The case was initially brought before the Criminal Court on January 29, 2026. The two 28-year-olds were arrested in Thessaloniki based on a European arrest warrant.
One 30-year-old is allegedly involved in the purchase and sale of the motorcycle used in the perpetrators' escape. A 31-year-old is allegedly the driver of the van from which the shots were fired. One 28-year-old is believed to be Demosthenous's killer.
The trial is expected to begin around 9:00 AM today.
