Europol Operation: Cyprus Police Involved in Multi-Million Seizures

In a pan-European operation codenamed "SHIELD VI," European authorities seized illegal pharmaceutical products and anabolic substances worth millions of euros. The operation, which lasted from April to November 2025, involved law enforcement authorities from 30 countries, including Cyprus, under the coordination of Europol.
The operation aimed to combat the trafficking of counterfeit medicines, anabolic steroids, and dietary supplements, with the support of INTERPOL, Frontex, and the World Anti-Doping Agency. In total, 3354 individuals were prosecuted, 907 investigations were launched, and 43 criminal organizations were investigated.
Drugs, anabolic substances, medical devices, and dietary supplements with a total value of over 33 million euros were seized. Dozens of illegal websites and underground laboratories were also identified and shut down.
Cyprus, through its Police (Y.KA.N. and Crime Investigation Department) and the Customs Department, actively participated in the operation. During SHIELD VI, 6753 pills, ampoules, and various other types of anabolic substances were seized in Cyprus.
In a statement, EUROPOL emphasizes that the purchase of medicines through uncontrolled online platforms strengthens organized crime and poses risks to public health.
