Investigation into Offensive Banner Against Fidias at APOEL Match

The Larnaca TAE is investigating an offensive banner against MEP Fidias Panagiotou, displayed by APOEL fans during a match against freedom 24 Krasava ENY Ypsona at Ammochostos Stadium. The banner labeled Panagiotou as a 'shame of Cyprus'.

The investigation focuses on identifying the individuals who brought the banner into the stadium and those who displayed it. Pan.Sy.Fi. APOEL has claimed responsibility and called on the police to arrest them 'in Machairas'.

Police are investigating the offense of prohibiting the use of racist or abusive slogans, based on the relevant 2008 law. APOEL issued a statement arguing that the police should investigate those who 'desecrate the history of Cyprus'.
