Syrian Man Kidnapped from Kofinou Reception Center – Arrest Warrant Issued

Investigations continue into the kidnapping of a 22-year-old Syrian man from the Reception and Accommodation Center for International Protection Applicants in Kofinou. The kidnapping was reported last night.

According to the Police, the 22-year-old received a phone call and met with three people outside the center, getting into their vehicle. After 30 minutes, friends of the victim reported the kidnapping, as his phone was switched off.

Around 10:30 PM, the 22-year-old contacted his friends, stating that he had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers had left him near the Kofinou overpass. He was found with abrasions on his face and neck.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant against one person. Investigations are ongoing, with financial disputes being examined as a possible motive.
