Accountability for National Guard Officials over Missing Explosives

Accountability appears to be assigned to officials of the National Guard in the report regarding the disappearance of 13.6kg of explosives from a firing range. The Minister of Defense, Vasilis Palmas, has issued instructions for a full investigation.

According to information from Cyprus Times, the investigation focuses on the time of training and inadequate supervision. Mr. Palmas expressed dissatisfaction and requested accountability. He contacted the responsible Brigadier General and the Chief of GEEF.

The most likely scenario is the theft of the explosives. The Police have not identified anything so far. TAE Larnaca is conducting investigations and evaluating information.
