Deadly Fire: Police Blame Couple for Route Choice

A joint session of the Parliamentary Committees on Interior, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Environment is underway regarding the deadly fire in mountainous Limassol.

The Chief of Police referred to the unfortunate couple who lost their lives, saying that "they were informed that the road was dangerous and ignored it." According to the Chief, the couple departed from Sylikou at 19:55 and were informed to head towards Agio MamasTrimiklini, but ignored it. The Alassa road closed at 20:05.

"We are investigating the incident, and from the examinations so far, it appears that the couple left the village of Sylikou at 19:55 and were informed that they should head to Agio Mamas – Trimiklini, which they ignored. The Alassa road closed at 20:05. They were informed that the road was dangerous and they ignored it. There will be a coroner's inquest and there is a specific deposition that will be presented," he stated.
