Demosthenous Murder: DNA Sample Taken from 31-Year-Old β Convict Remains in Custody
The 30-year-old convict was brought before the Limassol District Court again, and his detention was extended for six days in connection with the Demosthenous murder case. His lawyer did not object.
A DNA sample was taken from a 31-year-old Georgian, whose role is now considered 'key' in the case. He was initially arrested as being involved after the murder, but police now attribute a significant role to him.
Authorities are examining telecommunications data, while the 30-year-old convict allegedly ordered the purchase of the motorcycle used in the perpetrators' escape.
According to testimonies, the convict inspected the motorcycle via video call and gave the final 'okay' for its purchase. Furthermore, he allegedly contacted a person from prison to transport the motorcycle to Larnaca.
Investigations continue, 61 depositions are expected, and closed-circuit monitoring systems are being checked. Two searches are also expected in specific areas to locate evidence.
Police have arrested 7 people in Cyprus and 2 in Thessaloniki. Three were released, while the two from Nicosia, the convict, and the 31-year-old Georgian remain in custody. The extradition of the two 28-year-old Georgians from Greece is pending.
