Complaint: Quadriplegic Patient Dies After Delayed Examination

The president of the Cyprus Paraplegic Federation, Dimitris Lambrianidis, reported that a 62-year-old quadriplegic patient died after a delay in her examination at the hospital.
According to Mr. Lambrianidis, the patient, who suffered from a rare form of myelopathy, was transferred to TAEP GNL at 8.30 am with fever and tachycardia, but was examined by a doctor (a pulmonologist trainee) after 8 hours, following pressure.
Mr. Lambrianidis stated that the patient suffered a cardiac arrest and remained without oxygen for more than 20 minutes, causing organ damage. The relatives do not yet know the cause of death.
Mr. Lambrianidis commented on the situation within the GESS, emphasizing the lack of safety and quality for patients.
