Tobacco and Nicotine Pouches Seized at Larnaca Airport

Large quantities of tobacco products and nicotine pouches were seized by the Customs Department at Larnaca Airport on August 8, 10, and 11. The products were found in the luggage of passengers traveling to European countries.
According to an announcement, on August 11, Customs Department officials selected the luggage of two passengers bound for the United Kingdom for inspection. During the inspection, large quantities of tobacco products were found without the necessary markings and traceability codes, indicating that they were untaxed. Specifically, 75 cartons of 200 cigarettes each were found. The two passengers were arrested and taken to the Larnaca District Court, which issued a three-day detention order.
Additionally, on August 10, 419 units of 6.84g of nicotine and 40 units of 12.6g of nicotine were seized from a passenger arriving from India via Qatar. The passenger was released after paying 900 euros and abandoning the products.
A similar seizure of tobacco products occurred on August 8, where 70 cartons of cigarettes and 40 packs of rolling tobacco were found in a passenger bound for the United Kingdom. The passenger was arrested and detained for two days.
