A criminal organization involved in fraud related to OPEKEPE subsidies has been uncovered in Crete. According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the organization had a hierarchical structure and specific methodology, abusing the Single Application for Aid (EAE) system.

At the center of the investigation are Myron Chiletzakis, a farmers' unionist, Giorgos Lambrakis, an accountant, and Chrysanthi Koutantou, a lawyer. The accused allegedly declared false plots of land and non-existent livestock, using the tax identification numbers (AFM) and bank accounts of third parties.

The organization is believed to have been operating from 2019 to 2025, with Chiletzakis coordinating activities, Lambrakis managing financial flows, and Koutantou providing legal support. The illegal profit is estimated to exceed €1.7 million.

The police operation led to the seizure of cash, bank cards, and documents. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the case.
