Cyprus: Increased Security Measures Amid Terror Concerns
Share on:

Cyprus Police have implemented heightened security measures due to the war in the Middle East and fears of terrorist attacks, particularly from "lone wolves."

Authorities have developed a plan and are implementing increased security protocols at critical infrastructure and high-risk areas, including areas with Israeli interests. All security protocols have been activated, and the situation is being monitored in coordination with other services.

The Police are in open communication with foreign intelligence services and Europol. The concern focuses on potential actions by individuals ("lone wolves").

Recently, the Cyprus Police arrested an Azerbaijani man and his partner on suspicion of terrorism. The 28-year-old had repeatedly traveled to Iran, and there were suspicions that he was recruited by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. They were photographing targets related to Israel and remain in custody.
