An unprecedented fraud case has been uncovered in Cyprus, where a lawyer is accused of embezzling money and assets from the estates of deceased individuals.

According to a report in the newspaper «Politis», the lawyer did not inform the heirs and misappropriated the assets. In one case, she sold an apartment for €75,000, which should have been given to the daughter of the deceased.

The Disciplinary Board estimated that the total amount embezzled amounts to €541,522, of which only €205,000 was returned. Two cases have been referred to the Legal Service.

The Cyprus Bar Association has disbarred the lawyer, who, according to reports, has been convicted in the past for similar cases.
