Cyprus: Arrests and Charges for Drunk and Drugged Driving

Cyprus Police conducted extensive checks on Friday night, resulting in numerous arrests and charges.

A total of 657 checks were carried out on drivers and passengers, resulting in 206 charges for traffic offenses. Additionally, 174 breathalyzer tests were performed, with 58 drivers testing positive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, three drivers tested positive in a preliminary drug test.

In addition, there were nine arrests for offenses such as illegal possession of property, knife-carrying, illegal possession of an offensive weapon, illegal possession of empty military magazines, illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, intoxication and disturbance, as well as outstanding warrants.

Ten vehicles were seized for further investigation in connection with traffic offenses.
