Cyprus: Interviews Begin for 2017 Police Lieutenant Promotions

The interview process begins to fill 52 police lieutenant positions in the Cyprus Police, following the annulment of the 2017 promotions by the Administrative Court. The positions were invalidated due to scandalous procedures that took place eight years ago.

According to an internal memo from Deputy Chief of Police, Panikos Stavrou, dated 24/6, interviews for the sergeants vying for the positions began on June 24th. The process arose after the decision of the Administrative Court, under President Filippos Komodromos, on September 1, 2023, which vindicated the appellants due to the lack of justification for the scoring in the interviews.

The evaluation process includes reviewing individual files, evaluations from superiors, academic qualifications, and seniority, while the Judgment Council grades candidates based on oral interviews.
