Convict Giorgos Christodoulou Zavrantonas is considered by the Police to be the mastermind behind a major criminal case. The convict, his 37-year-old partner, her parents and brother, and one other person were brought before the Nicosia District Court and ordered to be detained.

Suspects 1, 2, and 6 will remain in custody for 8 days, while suspects 3, 4, and 5 for 6 days. According to the Police, they received information about drug trafficking, protection services, and illegal gambling. Suspect 1 allegedly used a mobile phone to communicate with suspects 2 and 4, giving instructions on managing proceeds from illegal activities.

Weekly earnings amounted to approximately €50,000, with the total amount since the beginning of the year reaching €1 million. Money was found in the homes of the suspects, as well as a painting worth approximately €150,000. Police are also investigating three prison guards for possible collaboration with suspect 2.

Defense attorneys did not object to the detention request. Additional testimonies are expected, and a warrant will be sought to disclose bank accounts and telecommunications data.
