Larnaca: 22-Year-Old SYOP Detained for Attempted Murder of Businessman

A 22-year-old SYOP has been detained for eight days in connection with the attempted murder of a 47-year-old businessman in Larnaca last July. Police are investigating six offenses, including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

During a search of the suspect's home, a loaded 9mm pistol was found. Information suggests that the suspect allegedly confessed to a third party about committing the attempted murder. He also appeared to be monitoring the businessman and had taken leave from his job on the day of the attempt.

Authorities are searching for the weapon used in the attempted murder. The results of scientific genetic material tests, forensic examination of the suspect's mobile phone, and ballistic testing of the pistol found at his home are pending. The suspect is not cooperating with the authorities.
