A 53-year-old Greek Cypriot man faces charges for driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed into a café-restaurant in the Zygi area. The incident occurred on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. near the Kalavasos roundabout.

The driver, after leaving the scene, was later found at the Zygi fishing shelter. He faces charges of careless driving, leaving the scene, refusing a preliminary breathalyzer test, driving an immobilized vehicle, and driving without insurance.

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty, and the court revoked his driver's license until September 15, the date set for the trial. Until then, he was released on bail.

According to the Police, the driver smelled of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer test upon arrest.
