Limassol: 84-Year-Old Accused of Arson in Dymes

An 84-year-old man is accused of causing a fire that broke out on Tuesday in the Dymes area, in the Limassol district. According to the Police, the elderly man allegedly admitted to starting the fire while working with an electric emery near his residence.
In his voluntary statement, the 84-year-old stated that he was cutting sheet metal using an emery when the fire started. He was charged in writing and released, while the Agros Police Station continues the investigation.
The fire, which broke out around 13:30, burned approximately six decares of land, including pine trees, wild vegetation, and cultivated land with fruit trees. Eight fire trucks from the Forest Department, four vehicles from the Fire Service, and four aircraft assisted in extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control around 14:45.
