Limassol: US Experts Suspect Criminal Activity in Fire's Origin

The initial outbreak of the fire in mountainous Limassol is being examined as a potential crime scene by American experts. The ten-member team, invited by the government, is expected in Cyprus for investigation and assessment.

Deputy Government Spokesman, Yannis Antoniou, stated on state radio that the experts already possess data from American satellites. Their initial report will form the basis for further investigation.

The President of the Republic requested the objective investigation by specialists in order to prevent similar incidents in the future. The team will remain in Cyprus for ten days and submit a written report. Fire management and citizen evacuation will follow.

Mr. Antoniou mentioned that the issue of political responsibility has not been closed.
