Limassol: Raids on Barber Shops and Foreign-Owned Businesses β 6 Arrests

A coordinated operation by the Limassol Police Division (ADE Limassol) targeted barber shops and businesses owned by foreign nationals in the Limassol district, resulting in six arrests and numerous complaints.
During the operation, which took place yesterday, members of the Limassol Rapid Response Unit (OPE Limassol), in cooperation with the YAM Morphou and Paphos units, officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, and an official from the Department of Taxation, conducted inspections on 15 barber shops on the streets of Anexartisias, Glastonos, Franklin Roosevelt, Misiaouli Kavazoglou, Omonoias, Chr. Hatzipavlou, Georgiou Aβ, and Apostolou Varna.
It was found that four barber shops were operating without a license, and a restaurant on Apostolou Varna Street was also operating without a license.
Three foreign nationals of Arab origin were arrested for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, and another three of Syrian origin for illegal employment. In addition, eight foreign nationals were reported for undeclared work, with fines totaling β¬26,800.
Two businesses were reported by the Department of Taxation for failing to issue receipts.
Inspections will continue in the coming period.
