Limassol: Police Investigate Assault on Football Referee

Police are investigating allegations of an assault on a referee during a second division match in Limassol between Karmiotissa and APEA Akrotiri. Referee Konstantinos Theodorou reported being verbally abused, harassed, and physically assaulted as he left the field.

According to Mr. Theodorou, the attack included punches from individuals associated with the home team. The referee claims to have identified an official of Karmiotissa as one of the perpetrators. He also expressed complaints about the police's response.

Karmiotissa, in a statement, denies the referee's claims, calling them exaggerated. The case is expected to be referred to the Athletic Judge of the CFA.
