Limassol: Investigation into Dog That Injured 2-Year-Old β In Animal Hotel

The dog that injured a two-year-old girl in the Limassol district is being housed in an animal hotel. Veterinary Services are conducting tests to determine its breed.
The incident occurred at the Foini Waterfalls when the dog attacked the little girl. According to the Police, the dog is an American Staffordshire breed, which is not prohibited in Cyprus. However, authorities are investigating whether it is a prohibited breed that was not declared.
It will also be examined whether the owner had a dog ownership license from the Municipality. Police report that the dog was registered and had a microchip, but was not wearing a leash at the time of the attack.
The 24-year-old owner was arrested and is expected to be charged in writing for negligent reckless acts and for an unsupervised dog. If it is found that the dog is of a prohibited breed, additional charges will be filed.
The two-year-old girl is hospitalized at Nicosia General Hospital with leg injuries, but her health condition is out of danger.
