Nicosia: 33-Year-Old Calls Police, Then Attacks Them

An unusual incident occurred early Monday morning (29/12) in the center of Nicosia. A 33-year-old woman called the police for assistance in the Faneromeni area.

According to OmegaLive, officers from the Ledra Police Station responded to the call and found a woman with a 36-year-old man in a state of intoxication. While attempting to arrest the 36-year-old, the 33-year-old resisted and attacked the officers.

Both were arrested and taken to the Nicosia Central Police Station for offenses including assaulting police officers, public insult, causing disturbance, and resisting arrest. The 33-year-old also allegedly attacked a female police officer at the station.

No injuries were reported. The 33-year-old was released and is expected to be summoned again for a written charge, as is the 36-year-old, who remains in custody. Both are Greek Cypriots.
