Nicosia: 44-year-old faces arson charges in abandoned building case

A 44-year-old woman from Romania is being referred to the Permanent Criminal Court on charges of arson in an abandoned building on John Kennedy Avenue in Nicosia. The fire caused disruption in the area due to its central location.

According to investigations by TAE Nicosia, foreign nationals resided in the building. The arson caused damage to parked cars, and the road was closed for safety reasons.

Closed-circuit footage recorded the 44-year-old entering the building and a fire breaking out shortly after. Although she admits to being in the building, she claims she was looking for a friend and denies any involvement in the arson.

Investigations by TAE Nicosia are ongoing.
