A violent incident occurred at the First Aid Department of Nicosia General Hospital on Friday, August 22, when a 32-year-old foreign national, while in custody, injured a female police officer.

The man, initially found injured on Archbishop Leontiou Street, was transported to the hospital by ambulance and police escort. According to the Police, he began shouting and kicked a police officer in the eye. He also allegedly attempted to attack another patient.

A second police officer used spray to immobilize him and arrest him for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and illegally residing in Cyprus. The injured police officer received first aid and was found to have mild swelling and abrasion under her right eye.

The 32-year-old was brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a three-day detention order. Police determined that the foreign national is residing illegally in Cyprus.
