Nicosia: House Fire Caused by Candle in Lakatamia

The Fire Service responded to a house fire in Lakatamia, Nicosia, at midday. According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire started at 13:21 in a bedroom.

Two fire trucks from Nicosia fire stations rushed to the scene. The bedroom and its contents suffered extensive damage from the fire, while the rest of the house was affected by smoke and heat.

The two residents noticed the fire early and safely exited the house. The fire was extinguished by the Fire Service using breathing apparatus.

The causes of the fire are being investigated, with initial indications suggesting it was caused by a lit candle.
