Nicosia: Huge Drug and Weapons Seizure, Two Arrests

Two Greek Cypriots were arrested in Nicosia on Thursday (19/2) following an operation by YKAN, during which over 230 kilograms of narcotics were seized. The arrestees face charges of illegal possession of narcotics, obstruction of combating the legalization of proceeds from illegal activities, illegal possession of explosives, illegal possession of a firearm, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to the Police, 167 kilograms of dry cannabis plant material, 62 kilograms of cocaine, 4.5 kilograms of cannabis resin, a pistol, a revolver, a pistol replica, two improvised bombs, 9mm cartridges, €12,765, two glues impregnated with narcotic substances, and 381 electronic cigarettes containing narcotic substances were seized. Additionally, 27 grams of cannabis and 9 grams of cocaine were found in the possession of the 26-year-old suspect, while 11,480 firecrackers were found in the vehicle.
During the operation, YKAN monitored the suspects, including a woman who allegedly assisted them. One of the suspects reported illness and is expected to be examined in a hospital.
