Nicosia: Infant fights for life – Father arrested

An infant is fighting for its life after being diagnosed with shaken baby syndrome. The infant is intubated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

Radiodiagnostic tests revealed a hematoma in the brain, and doctors proceeded with surgery. The violent shaking caused cerebral hemorrhage.

The child's father has been arrested and placed in four-day custody. Offenses related to causing grievous bodily harm are being investigated. He had been reported in the past for aggressive behavior and domestic violence.

The three-month-old infant's father denies any involvement. Investigations by TAE Nicosia are ongoing.
