Major INTERPOL Operation: Over 3,000 Arrests – Cyprus Participated

A major global operation coordinated by INTERPOL, with the participation of 119 countries, including Cyprus, resulted in the arrest of 3,744 suspects. The operation, named Liberterra III, took place from November 10 to 21, 2025.

During the operation, 4,414 potential victims of human trafficking were identified and protected, and 12,992 irregular migrants were also detected. Over 1,800 of those arrested are linked to human trafficking and migrant smuggling offenses.

More than 14,000 police officers participated in the operation, conducting patrols and checks at various locations, as well as strengthening border controls. More than 720 new investigations were also launched.

The Cyprus Police participated in the operation, carrying out checks at airports and along the green line. More than 1250 people were checked, 55 irregular migrants were identified, and three people were arrested for using forged travel documents.

The Secretary-General of INTERPOL, Mr. Valdecy Urquiza, emphasized the importance of cooperation and the need to anticipate threats from criminal networks.
