Abbakoum Monastery: Five Cases in Court, Eight Defendants

A total of five cases are now related to the Abbakoum Monastery scandal, with eight defendants, including Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamasos and Oreini. Two new cases concern offenses arising from the law on sexual abuse and exploitation.
The two new cases were filed following instructions from the Legal Service, after complaints to the Police. One concerns a monk who appeared in a video with scandalous innuendos, while the other concerns a minor's complaint of inappropriate behavior by a monk.
In addition, three more cases are pending. The first concerns the defrocked archimandrites Nektarios and Porphyrios, with 24 charges of a financial nature. The other two concern Metropolitan Isaiah: one for theft and money laundering, and the other for violation of the law on personal data protection through the closed-circuit surveillance system at Abbakoum Monastery, which also involves Nektarios and Barnabas.
